Club Leon and FIFA have concluded their dispute after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS) issued its verdict on the team's participation in the 2025 Club World Cup. Over several hours, the TAS session determined that the esmeraldas did not meet the requirements imposed by the International Federation of Association Football, which is why they will not be able to compete in this year's edition in Miami. Club Leon had presented evidence and arguments to demand that the 'prize' awarded by Concacaf to the winners of the Confederation of North America tournament be fulfilled. And now, after the TAS decision, the Leon team considers the resolution unfair, but assured that they will abide by the criteria used by the authorities to decide that, despite having won their place, they will not be able to compete in the 2025 Club World Cup. The president of the TAS panel was Prof. Roberto Moreno, who examined the evidence and concluded that Club Leon's fiduciary structure was insufficient to comply with the regulations. Club Leon had insisted that it was the ideal candidate to occupy the vacant space left by the Mexican clubs, but FIFA decided not to proceed with their request. The Liga Deportiva Alajuelense, from Costa Rica, had also sent a petition to FIFA to request the vacant spot, but their appeal was rejected. Club Leon will now focus on the next season of Liga MX, after this international disappointment. So, the esmeraldas will have to wait another year to have the opportunity to compete in the Club World Cup. But, for now, the Leon team will concentrate on improving their game and preparing for the next challenges. The TAS decision has been a blow to Club Leon, but the team is determined to move forward and fight for their objectives.
