Club Leon has been excluded from the 2025 Club World Cup, a tournament that will bring together the best teams in the world. FIFA announced this decision due to the ownership situation involving Club Leon and Club de Fútbol Pachuca. According to FIFA regulations, no participating club can have control over another team in the same competition. The FIFA Disciplinary Commission initiated proceedings against both clubs for possible violations of these rules. After reviewing the evidence, it was determined that Club Leon and Pachuca did not meet the established criteria. As a result, FIFA decided not to admit Club Leon into the tournament, opening the door for other clubs like Los Angeles FC or Club América to take their place. Although Club Leon appealed this decision, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) upheld FIFA's ruling, confirming the exclusion of the Mexican club. The first edition of the Club World Cup will take place in the United States from June 15 to July 13, 2025, and will be broadcast for free on DAZN.
